Kompetence I


On July 1, 2009, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports launched an individual national project Kompetence I realized within the Operational Programme Education for Competitiveness. The CSI has become its partner since October 1, 2011.

 
The project Kompetence I, co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic, is concerned with realization of international comparative studies of initial education and their analysis for the Czech Republic. Realization of international comparative studies in the area of initial education may have positive impact on the Czech education system, it enables monitoring of students´ learning outcomes. The research outputs provide feedback into the education system and thus can contribute to development of new evaluation tools, to continuous professional development of pedagogical staff, etc.
 
Project Kompetence I consists of four activities:
 
1) PIRLS 2011 (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) and TIMSS 2011 (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study),
2) ICCS 2009 (International Civic and Citizenship Education Study),
3) PISA 2012 (Programme for International Student Assessment),
4) The use of the research results.
 
Project Kompetence I ended on March 31, 2014.
